that mud was probably 1" thick there on the floor maybe a tad less. Its about 2200 lbs of sand. Tore the old tile floor out in kitchen and the carpets was setup for Durock and the cabinets were all shimmed because the old floor was mudded. It was mudded thin where the tile met the carpet so I assumed it was on CBU not knowing it was mudded because the subfloor was extremely out of level and had 2 big humps in it. Now its nice and flat for me.

It is drypack. We mix it I get the sand loose and buy 94 lb bags of Portland and mix it up in a box. Yeah the mud looks thick cause I just dumped out 2 buckets and I was getting ready to pack it in and screed that area.

My world is mostly really big tiles these days..Dad covers the tile end and I handle the slab for the most part.

John,
The floor tile was a good bit thicker as was the accent row. The white wall tiles were back buttered with 1/4" notch as was the wall. Lots of pookey. Kerdi overlap presents a challenge but easily surmountable.

Chad,
It's his own showroom, so he's got a little pull with the client if there's a problem.

But it's all the same Shaughnn even if it's brand new in a customers home.. With Slab We don't tarp, drop cloth or ever put anything between our feet and the floor. It's simply too dangerous when packing parts that can weigh up to 800lbs. We buy the floor if we mess it up...and I've bought one this year.
