Pulling the 8ft edge
This is for Crestone Tile and Irish Tile guy
working the 8ft edge for ya'll at the top I was pulling the 10 ft edge where the design in the splash is. This was around 2 1/4 tons of sand mixed up in a mixing box by hand. Fun day.

Actually.............
I was filling in and there was a guy making all the runners and 2 guys mixing. It was 3/4" on the far left by the window at the end and 2 inches at the right over 10 ft. The floor was bad. We mudded the whole thing in about 4-5 hours.

Nice looking mud. Does the GC level up all the cabinet bases? Seems it would be easier to float it without the cabinets, you don't have to cut to them, and they have a level floor to set them on.
Well, that's how I do it, but I'm a hobbyist.

Yeah like gueze said I was wondering abou the cabinets too.. Did they set them on blocks, otherwise I think that mud would eat up your toe kick height in a hurry.

This was a tearout. The floor was installed already. It was tumbled stone a pattern that was random. The originall installer didn't want to tearout the 3 layers of vinyl flooring and hardwood in the open section that used to be the dining room. He threw 1/4" hardi down and installed the stone right on top of all these floors no mesh tape. The stone is extremely delicate and cracked at all the seams in the hardi and other random spots. We tore all the floors out and started fresh. He should have torn out because he worked on the floor before all the cabinets were in and made it hard for us to tearout. But all the floors acted as shims and kept the cabinets up about an inch so that the toekick isn't short.
Before photos.
