Soviet un-coupling technology

I just got back from a fantastic vacation in my homeland (well, my ancestor's homeland...)

Warsaw was systematically destroyed by the Nazis when Hitler wanted revenge for the Warsaw Uprising of August 1944. Eh, what the hell, the allies weren't too interested in Poland's fate so he felt he could do as he pleased. And the Russians didn't mind, 'cause it would make it easier to overrun the country later with the Polish Home Army decimated and the seat of government wiped off the planet.

Anyway, they rebuilt after the war and had the foresight to restore the old town to what it was before the bombings. (It's kind of amazing, but the castle was just rebuilt/restored from 1971-1984.) This picture was taken in the barbican, which connects the old town to the "new" (17th century) town. My hubby zeroed in on its similarity to Ditra right away.

Tile in Warsaw

Here's the bath in our hotel. Interesting faux river rock tile. Note how it wraps up from the floor to the front of the tub. They didn't want to bother with pesky cuts for the strip on the tub wall, so they just thinset it over the wall tile. Raw edges on the sides of it.

Still was the most fancy-shmancy place we stayed in the country.

I actually kin' picture this....Opie... cigar butt clinched between his teeth, dressed in tee, flip-flops an' shorts, a-climbin' that tree to rub ol' Bobbie-cats' widdle ears :---)

I kin' also picture the next morning news item in the Arizona local rag and scandal sheet:

Florida tile man terrorizes local bobcat:

Cat crabs seegar’ from interloper's jaws, swats man from tree, finishes seegar‘, flicks remaining butt on hapless interloper and leaves. Man recovering in local emergency ward from multiple scratches, burns and contusions caused by shorts getting caught during fall from tree.

Doctors successfully removed broken bobcat claw tips from mans gums but are mystified by presence of tile shards imbedded near base of teeth.

PS: What the heck is that Goonie pic all about, Chad?
