There are no words in my vocabulary that could adequately describe the horrific acts of violence that have occurred this day at Sandy Hook Elementary School.. These people show a total disregard for life.. Precious life...

President Obama just spoke to the Nation aobut Sandy Hook.. It was heartfelt and by far the best one that I think he has ever made.... He did not make the speech about him this time about the victims and their families... bravo...

He did however, leave open the possibility for future action by him regarding the tragedies of late and action on his part...

I feel like taking my kids out of school today until teachers are provided with guns and training. Absolutely horrible. Can't imagine feeling that helpless, or the terror the children must have dealt with.

Rather than arming teachers, maybe we need to improve and strengthen the mental health care systems/ safety nets in this country.

Ok mark but until then lets provide the adults that have present in these situations with a way to stop it vs having to watch children die.

The mentally ill can not be forced to recieve treatment for their illness.

Unless they are in an institution, treatment can not be forced on them.

How do you think we can strengthen mental health in this country?

The logical solution is not to force mentally ill non-criminals to undergo treatment that may or may not work, but for the public to rally for reasonable regulations to make events like this harder to put into action.

There's no good reason for civilians to own tactical gear and/or assault weapons. You get into a situation where you need to defend yourself, you first try to remove yourself from harm and call for backup before pretending to be some hero from a Michael Bay movie.

The sale and purchase of firearms needs to be regulated to a more reasonable degree. After all, you have to pass two separate tests to drive a car, yet any non-felon can purchase a tool specifically designed to kill humans with no proof that they have the knowledge or capacity to use them wisely.

I am by no means anti 2A. I whole heartedly feel however, that anyone that wishes to own firearms be required to undergo training and testing, and be encouraged to practice regularly.

Ah it's not just this country. I believe 28 kids were stabbed in China while at school yesterday and apparently it's an ongoing problem over there. I assume they don't have access to guns over there like we do here so they use knives or whatever else they can get their hands on.

Until "the" evil is removed from our society by a higher power, things will get progressively worse. As much as I hate to see stuff like this happen, my faith teaches me these things are going to happen and get worse as the time of Jesus coming to get rid of the evil approaches because the Devil knows his time is short and thus is ramping up his efforts against the human race.

Signs of the times!

Like everyone else, I'm saddened by what happened in Connecticut. It's impossible to understand.

I am gratified, however, that we made it through ten posts without hearing about some form of gun control, and I'm saddened that we couldn't continue without it. I knew it would eventually come up, though.

Guns and gun control have little to do with the issue. Unbalanced people can cause havoc without guns. There are too many ways to mention.

My friends and i were just talking about the same thing JB. And i agree on training teachers and having them conceal and carry Hank. Or armed security on all schools especially K-12
