Epoxy grout haze on grout line?

Hello everyone,

Just had a tiler finish up my bathroom as I ran out of time myself. He did a pretty good job except the grout on the floor. Considering we had dark gray tiles on the floor we went with a dark iron grout. We went with maipe ultracolor plus fa for this. Long story short, I don’t think the tiler realized he was using epoxy grout and I caught them after work going crazy washing the floor down trying to get the excess off. Of course I got epoxy grout haze on the tile that actually came off pretty easy, even after 2 days these guys let it cure. The biggest problem though is the actual grout line color is off, it’s whiteish and not the dark almost black color it’s supposed to be. When it’s wet it looks fine though but as soon as it dries out the whiteish color comes back.

Any idea what could be done. How should I handle this with the tilers?

The ultracolor FA is not an epoxy grout.

Painting over the grout lines may give you the true color.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, John.
Roberto is correct, Ultracolor Plus FA is not an epoxy. It is a high performance cement-based grout.
I can't tell you how to handle this with your installer, but the fix would for the color would be a colorant, like our UltraCare Grout Refresh. This product is essentially a colored sealer, and will recolor the joints to any one of our 40 color options (including black).
Feel free to call the number in my signature for more info or where to get your hands on some.
