need help w/ saltillo tile and its color discoloration

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on saltillo tile. In all of the stores the tile all seems to be a range of color in the same box. The box we have at home has pieces of tile that look like they have a line going down the middle (like half of it was baked a different color). Is this normal and if so is their any tips on installing this tile that would be different than installing normal tile.
Thanks

Hi Unregistered, welcome. How about a first name we could call you around here?

The "lines" you have on your tiles, they look something like the picher below? Sounds to me like you have the real deal there with your Saltillo tiles, where bands of varying shades are present due to the drying racks they were placed on. That's the real look.

Successfully installing Saltillo is a somewhat different art form - for some really good tips from the experts here, do a search on Saltillo AND installation. Then come back with any additional questions you may have.

The tiles Mike posted are called super Saltillo. They are nicely rounded and neater looking than true Saltillo, which is very rugged and irregular. Do search around for other threads. There are several.

Also, please give us a first name.
