Sailing

Wish me luck
I will be racing in the Norm Blanchard Wood Regatta this weekend.
With my daughter Copper as crew, the Captain will navigate one of the Jr. Knockabouts from the Center for Wooden Boats collection in five races over the weekend. Should be a lot of fun.

Wish I could be there, Jerry. Don't be blaming the crew if you don't place well.

That looks like a fine sailboat. Nice lines. Get enough breeze she might even surf a little?

Hope all went well. We are out of the sailing business for the remainder of the year. Pulled our boat out after that last trip and found a hole in the hull. Lucky we didn;t end up on the bottom.

It was a lot of fun.
Winds didn't cooperate that much. It was a 5 race series. 3 on Saturday. 2 yesterday. Very fluky winds that shifted all over the lake.
In our class I finished 2nd (four boats all alike). In our section (boats up to 22') we finished 4th.
For an old fart who hasn't raced a sailboat in 22 years I was happy with the results.

Jerry, you know that is utter B.S. Every time there are two or more sailboats in proximity to one another it's a race whether anyone acknowledges it or not, and you've been sailing during the past twenty years.

A couple years ago my brother an I were out on Elliot Bay in a 22 footer when along comes that America's Cup boat they sell rides on down there. Not that we thought in our wildest dream we were in the running, but I guarantee you we tried pacing that boat for a spell. Hell, she must have been doing 12 knots to our 3.

Well done, by the way.

Nice going Jerry.

We were out in the water too, tried to knock off some of your opposition but the damn torpedoes didn't run true. Tell those folks we're sorry about the dock.
