John you should know this one. Dutchmans were also used above doorways when mud cap (A4402) were used on the right and left side of the door jamb. Therefore you had full tile on each side and you would do to Dutchman first tile in so it would create a full tile look above the doorway.

Yeah, I'm aware of that but never had a need to do it. We always used A-4200 around the doorways with cuts against the corner pieces (AN-4200). On occasion, I did use double cuts of bullnose (cut edges facing each other) in the middle.

My wife and I stayed at a B&B and being the tile snob you’ve all made me into; I had to share this. The place was immaculately kept and we had a fun time. The hosts have been fixing the place up over the years and described it as “a bad Addams family house” when they moved in. The tile work is original and has been patched in places by them. Currently tasked to replace entry door. Had to remove a few tiles to make the new threshold fit. Tile is about a year old. Looks like a b+ maybe a- install visually. But....
These tiles came up very easily. Assuming tiles were wet during install. Other coverage issues also.

If anyone catches this in the next hour and has an answer. This subfloor that will be under the threshold has a hump in it. It. Thinking about building a dam or form at at the edge and pouring liquid background under that area to level it out. Thinking that will provide a better and level substrate to set the door on. Make sense?
What's your fix? Shims?

Here is what I ripped out of a never been used shower. Waterproofed the clamping ring, weep holes, bolts etc. Also they used 2 pan liners and no pre slope. 2 years old and the waterproofing was still wet under the ring sandwich.

Two liners. Intention/Thoughys “double the protection, slow down any leaks from the wallboard screws and staples.”. Actuality is that it’s twice as likely to fail. Lol. Never come across a double liner, yet...
