A demolition today of a bathroom floor tile. Some had already come up, most came up in one or two pieces as soon as the chisel was underneath them, and a few popped off the floor on their own as soon as the tension was relieved.
Some of the thinset came off the floor with little or no effort. Very little came off with the tile. Some of it was in sheets as big as my hand with trowel marks in it.
Fifteen minutes to remove 55 square feet of tile, maybe 45 minutes to remove the mortar.
Love the tub "mini-skirt"!
This piece and the one next to it lifted off the mortar bed with little effort, but still couldn't get it loose from the wall. Care to guess what was holding it?
It's the netting from where insulation was blown in. Apparently there was a couple inches of it down on the floor. No need to trim it off, just tile right over it. Sort of an anti-fracture membrane.
A bonus shot, same house, other bathroom. Missed it by
that much.
