Collector car values?
Any one know any good sources for pricing/selling an old car? My wife's great aunt passed yesterday. A neighbor who'd been renting garage space from her offered $1,000. Timing of his offer was a bit tasteless IMO. It's a 1976 Monte Carlo, garage kept. She was the only owner and it has 38k original miles. I know nothing about old cars but I do think he's trying to fleece my MIL.

Merry Christmas every one
RD or anyone out near Queens, if you see this, can you give me any leads on painters out by you? The house is in Whitestone. We'll be there to clean it out Thursday/Friday and then we'll need to get the house ready for the market.
Thanks.

Edmunds is the classic market, both in print and on the web.

hmmm, after checking out their site a bit more I'm not sure how useful it'll be, but imo that car's gotta be worth considerably more.

Brian, sorry about your loss, I HATE painting, Alex loves to paint.
I know a good tile guy though, oh and I might want that car as well, I'd offer a bit more though.

Just doing a quick internet search to see what is being offered, and the two I found were $8,900 to $17,500. Looks like he offered a tenth of what it was worth.

I don't know diddly about that car, Brian, but I know Richie is right about the painter.
Why, alla time we see on here where Richie and Alex (Splinter) are talkin' about jobs up their way and alla time ol' Alex is sayin' to Richie stuff like, "I sure wish I could find me some painting jobs so's I wouldn't alla time hafta be settin' tile and stuff." Yep, Alex is clearly your man.

Thanks. If Splinter really likes painting, have him contact me. bsj0228@msn.com
Richie, I'll take pictures on Thursday of the car and send them to you. If it were summer and the kids not in school, I'd go up there for a couple days at a pop for a couple weeks and get the house ready myself, but it's not possible this time of year.

Well, at least it's nice to know you're feeling well enough to take on something like that again, Brian.
I think you're gonna find that Richie was just triflin' with you about ol' Alex. If you were a newbie we'd just met, I wouldn't have helped him like that, but I just couldn't help myownself.
But for all I know Alex does like to paint. I mean, he is kinda weird and all, eh?

I can feel the love.
I dont think anyone in their right mind truly loves to paint... My problem is that I'm pretty darned good at it, so people keep asking me to do it...
I'll shoot you an email and you can give me the details about what needs to get done. As far as the car goes, I'll run it past my used car dealer neighbor. He loves cars like that.

What everyone has said Brian.
Spend a little time on eBay, look on Hemmings Motor News, check out this ChevyTalk forum - http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/sh...d/Monte_Carlo/
A little disappointing that he's trying to get one over on your MIL - 1000 for that 38K mile original is a fraction of what it's worth to someone who's really into that series.

Thanks all. I'll shoot a ton of pics tomorrow and post a photobucket album link.
Alex, I'll send you interior pics, floorplan and measurements so you have an idea of what's going on there. Then we can move on to figuring a time that you might come see it in real life.
Found out this same jerk has been renting part of her garage. For how much?
$25/month

Got some photos of the car today. I sent them to you Alex and Richie. What a time warp today. I really stepped back into some history.

I suffer from the same symptoms, Alex. As recently as this very day someone axed me would I paint some cabinets for'em. And it was my cabinet shop!
Not that I'm suggesting I'm in my "right mind" or any such.
