Weep Holes Shower?

Hi Everyone!

You all helped me so much last year with tile installation in my shower...thank you!

After I reapplied loose tiles in shower stall and caulked , I came across these little holes at base of shower window...I think they are weep holes (pictures included).

Question: When caulking, should you seal up these holes with caulk or leave them open?

Thank you again!

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I'm not sure what the holes are for. I guess they might want shower water to seep into the tub area instead of resting on the shower side. I don't know why the wall would slope in that direction, though. Seems to me it should slope back toward the shower. I always wipe my shower down after use, so it doesn't matter where the water ends up.

Do they appear on the tub side of the glass also, Lisa?

Hi,

Sorry, I took a bad angle of picture...but there is no sloping.

Hi Cx...No, there are no holes on tub side of glass...what do you think?

Thanks,
Lisa

I think they are poorly executed weep holes made by the glass fabricator to drain moisture from their glass channel. Not sure why they're so big and round. Ones I usually see are small horizontal slots.

I wouldn't recommend you do anything to close them off if I'm correct about their intended function.

My opinion; worth price charged.
