Question A Few Newbie Subfloor Questions

Hello all, I am in the process of preparing a bathroom floor for ceramic tile, I have a 23/32 Sturdifloor plywood sub-floor and am going to add a layer of 1/2 plywood. Does the 1/2 plywood need to run perpendicular to the joists also? Is it recommended to screw and glue the second layer? Can the tile be applied directly to the new plywood with thinset or should I use Ditra or a CBU. If the tile can go on the plywood would you recommend something like Redguard be applied first? Sorry for all the questions, I hope to do the job right so I don't have to redo it. Thanks, John.

Hi John:

Yes.
Yes.
No, go with Ditra or CBU.
