Ipe, teak, mahogany were woods that I used to buy at sawmills in Peru for various projects when I lived down there. Used to buy them ruff cut in rack dried chunks and have them cut down.
They had this stuff they called cedro which was awesome to work with and nothing like any cedar I have seen in the states.
Oh, and I got a lot of splinters, but fortunately no flesh eating disease.

do you guys that do the one piece niche do anything to deal with the pinholes? Kerdi fix them? I know that you can technically make your own inside corners watertight without using the preformed kereck (I've done JB's 'cone test' for myself) but I'd imagine it would be tough to get 4 simultaneous perfect pinholes, no?
Kyle,
You can put a dab of Kerdi-fix into the corner and press the Kerdi pinhole over it, causing it to seal the hole from the backside and ooze out the front. Spread the pinhole bead around to seal the top of the membrane also and you've got a 100% plug.
