Eric,
Since I am the framer, drywall guy, trim carpenter, painter and tile guy - the crown was installed so we'd know where to stop the tiles. The ceiling isn't flat, and the crown follows the ceiling, so the tiles are cut at slight angles but no one sees that. ColorRite will be has the grout matching caulk on the way as we speak.
We hung enough crown to get the shower tiled. Today we built some of the cabinets to be able to finish the crown in the rest of the bathroom.
The entire space is 450 sf, which includes his & her baths, the shower, tub area, and closet.
The tiles are 24x24's, Todagres rock hard through body porcelain that handle very well.

Sounds like I work similarly to you well except for painting...unless someone needs it to look like finger paint lol.
I often think when tiling a bathroom, floor to ceiling, that crown could give you the wiggle room for a better layout at times but I've only ad to do it on a single job. In that instance we were using a 52, 38 crown and it had around a 4" vertical projection so we were able to take 3 1/2" off the vertical tile layout which helped big time. Chalked the 3 1/2" line, installed some 2x4 ripped on a 45 and installed it around the room as nailers for the molding. This allowed our tile layout to run full tiles above the chalk line and under our crown nailer hiding what wouldve been small cuts which greatly helped overall time on the project. I wish I had photos but that phone was damaged and sent to be to insurance co with card in it never to be returned...
Very nice work again I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
This thread alone inspires me to take even greater pride in my work to one day have something worthy of what I've already seen.

Opened this up the other day for a new shower and found a little drip. After removing the drywall above, turns out the installers put one of their screws into the pipe and it's been drippin like this for the last 15 years. No real damage as it just soaked into the mortar and ply next to the old f/g shower.
direct hit. couldn't a done better if they were aimin.
