Just got this one finished today, not grouting this letting someone else since I am headed west. Wanted to have off Sat. for a change. Swamped with work, for the next three months. Job I turned down next week they moved it back a week so doing that when I get back. 500 sq. ft. and puttn heat down on the whole floor.
This was for a high end kitchen place I have worked for before they do bathrooms too. I'll be the first to admit I didn't care for this quartz, she wanted green and blue, but hey to each their own she loves it. It was like part new part retro with that quartz, looks like terrazzo. Not groutin this one, lettin someone else Silver Shadow SpectraLock which I don't think goes either. I like the way they brought the tub deck edge over the seat, then caulked it. This project was just like going through the motions my heart wasn't in it when I saw the quartz being installed, shows we all have different likes

John bath looks good except for the colors, to each their own right.
Derrick I just tried muding my mock up shower this evening over open studs( the scratch coat) and wasn't having any luck , I think with paper behind it I could do it no problem, what's the trick to get it to hang without it all going through?

Chad I've kinda figured that out, on a mock up. I want to use Hydroban over mud when finished but didn't want to create the moisture sandwhich so what should I use. Red rosin or Kraft paper?
This is my first attemp at walls and I guess I've mis understood some things but that's why I'm here, to learn.

Josh, this is a show-and-tell kinda thread. If you want help with a particular project, best you start a project thread in the Advice forum for that. You and your project will get lost in here.

I'm sure someone else will comment too on what to use. I know some guys use plastic under it I would just paper it and not worry about it but that's just me.
Big thing about the Hydroban over is letting the mud cure for the 72 hours its a lot of down time.

I don't have any "show" today, but can tell you about the shower we demo'd;
1- Lead pan liner laid flat on the slab,
2- Slab had low spots outside the curbless shower
3- Tar paper between the lead and drypack
4- Flange 1" higher than pan
5- All manner of wee beasties having a party above and below the lead pan.
5B- The aroma
6- 1 & 1/2 days alotted for demo through grouting
7- Today we demo'd the base and re-mudded the floor. Tomorrow we waterproof with kerdi, tile and grout.
