Windows XP SP3
Have any of you guys installed XP Service Pack 3? And if so, what has been your experience, good, bad, or ugly?

I installed it, Greg. I probably didn't put as much thought into it as I should have, but it's done. I can't say I notice a difference.

It seemed long, but I didn't time it.

I did not install SP3 for XP pro, I would recommend anyone with an older system with say the 1.5ghz processors (or slower speed ) not install, it will slow your system and as far as I know the update does not have any security updates with it , it is all aesthetics.
I did install on a 700mhz comp. (well within the requirements for XP) and it slowed it considerably so I took it back out.

Thanks for sharing your experience Tim.
Just so you know, according to Microsoft, SP3 contains ALL security updates to date for XP.

I have installed it on 5 computers I have at home, two laptops and three desktops, the oldest being more than 5 years old and the newest just over a year old. Had no problems with the installs of service pack 3 and all the computers seem to run a little faster, applications also open noticeably faster. I say go for it.
