Gueuze,your links didnt work
Finished my bathroom, now Im working on my deck.
I had a pro "carpenter" do the top half.Nail gun was fast, but over the course of time seems like not the way to go.
I screwed the bottom portion.Cutting around the tree was fun.Its a nice break to rip off into some wood as opposed to screeching into porcelain all day!

L.T. I really like incorporating the tree into the deck design. Did you consider the growth of the tree? Not from a tree conservationist standpoint, but from worrying about the deck being pressed upon. Seems like I have seen a deck like this where they left some room.

Looks like the frame is back enough a guy could run that little sawzall down there, give it a few inches all the way around, and repeat as needed.
Matter a fact, that's probably why that sawzall is sittin there.

Well,I was envisioning the tree folding over the boards (the way trees can fold overbarb wire, etc).I'm certainly no tree or deck expert (nor apprentice for that matter). If the deck shows any signs of stress,Ill take my Stihl chainsaw and plunge the necessary gap.
I purposely made my deck cuts tight to see if the tree would conform.I think that would look great.

It might do it, I've seen plenty of trees grow into stationary items, gotta fence line at the shop with a tree in it I need to remove. Most of the times the tree does suffer. If you want to stop the growth at any cost to the tree, what about some metal bands to force it?

Sorry about the links, I'm going to blame either the new enovo stink pad, or the internet explorer, as I haven't installed firefox yet. I did it the same way I've done it for years.
LOL @ video response, L.T.
Nice deck. Forgiven? Hell, you're vindicated!

I don't think it will grow over something like that. Usually when a tree grows over something its just on one side (that I've seen anyhow).
In this case its gonna have to grow around every direction at the same time.
Maybe I'm wrong
I'd definately build a deck around a tree if I had one in the right place though. I think its a cool idea.
