Stuff from last week, HO's could not visualize placement of deco tile so I had to draw it on the wall

drywall guys are so fargin messy too.

That chiseled edge tile looks like Cerdomus, which would make it a REAL PITA!

Bill, don't remember what it was but grouting was a pain - I let it set up for almost an hour (mixed with 1776) and still dug some parts out too deep.

The ho's got the tile from one of those Direct Buy places - I think it was a mohawk tile

Looks like I better shuffle my tile better - nice skunk strip in the bath floor - doesn't look like at in person (not as bad anyway)

Grouting chiseled edge is a PITA. I don't think I leave it as pretty as you Tim.

1st chiseled edge tile guy i worked for said you don't dig the joints out, i said yeah you do. Everytime I do one of those I wreck my sponge. I use the corner of the sponge to dig it just the right amount. Royal pita.

Thanks Bill, cant tell you how different the room looks to before - they wanted a proper job without being told as well - walls over laid with Wedi (this is a 100 year old building) to sure them up and make straight. Nice when people appreciate as well as pay the bill!

I'm about to do the same thing. My house is just over 100 years old, and I'm about to do a complete gut on the main bathroom. But I'm a cheap SOB. I'm not gonna do Wedi, or any other backerboard. I'm going to float this one. No shimming, no NUTTIN-- square, plumb, flat, and level!

Grouting chiseled edge is a PITA.

best way is to float it out,
let it set up a bit and use a broom handle and run it down the joints.
lightly sweep up the bulk, remove it and then sponge as usual.

Brians right, the end of the handle on the margin trowel works good too.

Why not just strike the joint with your finger, eh? A broomstick is fancyness as far as im concerned.

The ol' margin trowel handle trick is still not gona make chiseled edge trav. easy.

And your finger dang sure ain't gona do it. Not without turning it into a bloody stump.

I got no problem just filling up the chiseled edge with grout if the builder is only paying bottom dollar.

If it is for a remodel or something, than ya, I will take the time to work the joint down. But it sucks.

it works on chiseled and scalloped edge tile.
makes the joints consistent, less to pick up with the sponge, etc
