I used redguard on this one, because the customer specifically requested it. Put an extra couple coats on it since I don't have much experience using it.

Interesting way of doing a window. I like it.
I don't see a divot for the divot method though.

Window thread
I think a window thread is a good idea. I don't run across them too often, but seeing options of how other pros do them would be a nice resource. Maybe even worthy of a "sticky".

Jim, after I filled it in I coated it with some of the redguard, and left about 1/2inch or so around the drain uncoated. You probably can't tell because of all the red in the pic. I don't do that usually, but then again I don't usually use red guard either. I went on vacation in mexico for a week in between filling it, and coating it again, so I'm sure it had enough time to cure. When I came back I put two more coats on everything, so just hit that area also. I'll try to take more before pics from now on. I usually just take pics of the finish. Seems that's all potential clients want to see anyway. At least around these parts..
Everyone else thank you, and that's how I usually do windows in a shower. How do you guys usually do them?

The last few windows I've done, and it's been a while, have been in 2x4 walls so I just squared everything off. For deeper walls I sure like your idea.

Thanks Dana. The window was that depth, but squared off. I had to reframe the whole shower area anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. The sill was made from a piece of corian from one of the wall panels in the original bathroom. I would typically use a slab piece of marble, but the budget was a little tight for this one.

Nice job Rich.
There's a few threads in the Alumni Album for specific types of jobs, but nothing for finished jobs generally. Most folks post those pics in this thread once they're finished, or once the owners move in.

Paul are you trying to belittle the work posted here
I too like the shower with the deep window, kinda looks like your on the outside of the building and nice frame around it, nice work all around Dennis
This thread should have a new title as in completed work, everyone would get bored if we showed what we did every day.
Dana I like that tub shower, cool idea
Window thread, I got a few a those.
And a finished shower here just in time for the holiday break, though I need to go finish it first
Ahhhh the smell of fiberglass in the morning....

Well, Jon, that's what Trask named his thread and we rarely change a thread title without the OP's request or approval. You might wanna contact Trask about that, eh? Way too long since we've heard from him anyway.
But, that said, completion is part of the "progress" of any "work," Yes?
