Where is the ramp into the shower?

Scott's suggestion of a mud bed across the entire floor is certainly one way. Mud beds are tres good.

There might be another more DIY user-friendly way, i.e. using a "spot specific" application of SLC like Mapei Ultraplan but I'm still not getting the visual of the ramp location to even make that recommendation. Maybe someone else can pick it up with another option or two.

Sorry, guess I'm not being too clear. This entire bathroom is open floor plan. So I guess the "ramp" into the shower is the entire right side of the wet area and the bottom side over to the heater closet. Does that make any sense?

So it's completely open, ramp on two sides with water splashing all over the water heater closet and toilet area? Hmmmm, I don't know Jennifer. How big is this thing?

Ain't the tissue gonna git wet?

The "wet area" is 60"x60". The top wall is 90", the right wall is 100" There will be a ceiling mounted track curtain that pulls around the right and bottom sides of the wet area. When not in use the curtain will be pulled around beside the heater closet to leave the entire space open. The wall of the heater closet will be tiled with the shower (The door to it is in the hall way). The surprise niche will also be tiled right in with the wet area. The entire top wall will be tiled. As stated prev. the entire floor will be the same mosaic tile (I hope). The walls will be a gradient mosaic (I hope). Ceiling, right wall and left wall along heater closet will be painted. Have I left anything out? Anybody wanna take bets on how this is gonna turn out?

The "I Hopes" are dependant on being able to get everything straight, level, plumb, square, and flat, including the kerdi. I'm sorta worried about the corners).

So what's the consensus? Mud bed and Kerdi the whole thing? Makes the most sense now that I try to explain it.

Jennifer,

Why not a low curb around the shower? It will hold the curtain in and contain the water. Then you don't need to worry about the bathroom floor. The way it is now you've got a nightmare. Don't torture yourself.

Well, John, the whole reason this got started was when I started planning the bathroom, I said I only want to do this once. My husband and I plan on dying right here in this house, so the sensible thing to do was to make it a handicap shower from the get-go. I got in my blocking for the bars, the doors and fixtures all have a 30" clearance for wheelchairs, etc.

wall hung toilet

Have been doing research about putting a wall hung toilet in the bathroom. I have found them that come with their own carriage and some say you must buy it from another supplier. I am having a terrible time finding any information on these. The only one I have found would require about a 12 inch wall" Does anyone have any idea where I could find more info on these and one that would be a little more reasonable on wall space?
