Question yard sale find

hi all. I recently recieved a table that a friend of mine found at a yard sale and thought I might lie it. It is a good solidly constructed table but unfortunately someone ruined it by trying to apply a "martha stewart-esqe" tile mosaic on the top using broken china pieces and some horrible looking sand like grout. I want to remove the tile but I am trying to figure out how to do it without ruining the table underneath...any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi 13, what's the table mad of under the tile? I would take a small cold chisel and lightly tap on it with a hammer working the pieces loose, that is as long as it's not glass underneath.

Smile thanks

Hey Davy thanks for the information. I fugured thats what I was gonna have to do, but I thought maybe there would be some kind of solvent that might be able to losen the grout a little. The table underneath appears to be a pretty heavy duty wood table (as evidenced by the reallt thick used on the drawers) So I guess it should be okay...by the way I checked out your website...you do really beautiful work. And thanks again

Hey. Thanks for the Welcome. First name is Debra. I will be working in the table tomorrow afternoon and hopefully I will have good news to report next week about my progress. Thanks for the tips.

If it is solid wood underneath, put on some safety glasse, scoot the kids and dogs out of the area and have at it with a hammer to get things started. whack it a few good times to break it up some. This may help save some time
