Sealing 1/2" copper pipe

First question of probably a few for my project.
I'm doing a basic mortar pan shower with backer board on the walls and am wondering how to seal up the 2 ....1/2" copper pipes that are going to coming through the backerboard and Kerdi.

Also what about when you drill a couple screws in to mount your wall mounted shower faucet?

Hi Tim, welcome! You can cut the holes tight on the pipe or make some out of Kerdi band then use Kerdi fix around it. As for the holes you can put a blob of silicone in the hole before you put the screws in.

Hi Tim,

What do you mean by "wall mounted faucet"? Would that be a shower head or a hand held shower? If a hand held you'll use plastic screw anchors which won't leak. If a shower head or shower valve, the screws will be behind the wall board.

So thanks for the earlier advice but I have another.

Just wondering if you all have any advice on how I should support my pipes that are coming into the 2 brass nipples that connect to the Esctcheon then to the faucet. Is it just a 90 over top of a 2x4?

here's the faucet with the brass nipple and then Escutcheon.
It seems pretty heavy just to hang it's weight on the pipe alone.

In the first pic it's the back of a bathtub in my other bath. Then the 2.... 1/2" inlets coming up. I had to shave the 2x6 to get it square for the backer board which is why it looks rough.

There's all kinds of fancy pipe supports out there, pick a good'n. Make sure the 2x is screwed/nailed solidly to the studs and then anchor the pipe to the 2x. Might need additional 2x's depending on the location of the existing one. I'd also support the pipe running vertically up to the valve from the floor by screwing another 2x to the studs about half way up.

Based on your photo above, you'll also anchor the finished shower head riser pipe to the tile surface. That finish support will likely have a screw(s) that will go thru the tile into another chunk of 2x in the wall. So, figure out where this anchor will be and make sure there's some solid 2x in the wall to hit with those screws. A wider 2x will make for a bigger target, so I typically use 2x10 or 2x12 for that sort of thing.
