White area on grout

Hello. I developed this white area on my penny tile grout. The shower is around two years old and the tile seemed to develop this when I switched brand of body wash (perhaps just a coincidence) around a year after installation. The back story is that I don’t love the tile I chose or the grout color but I’m trying to make the best of it. I don’t know if this is effervescence? Or staining? Or damage from water pooling? It’s not obviously pooling in this area but you never know. Also any tips on how to change the color of grout or brighten the shade of gray. It looks so dull and dingy to me. I see the various grout renew products but a little reluctant to use in a shower pan.

Hi Shannon, welcome back. Do you know how the shower was built? I'm wondering about the type of waterproofing under the floor tiles. Also, do you know what brand and type of grout that was used?

Have you scrubbed the grout with any cleaners?
