Red face Indoor Koi Pond / Tank?

So I recently added some lally columns in my cellar to support some new flooring and renovations - while I was down there I added a column under an outside corner of my foyer floor in hopes of building an interior koi pond (thinking 3x3'x 1.5' height). Anyone have experience doing something crazy like this? I'd like to tile the end result. Design and engineering ideas appreciated!

Treat it like a shower. slopes, membranes and mud.

Treat it like a pool, pumps filters, bypasses

Order quality parts from a supplier that specializes in Koy Ponds--there are many.

This is big dollars.

Ok I am getting materials together... Will a 40 mil pvc liner be sufficient or should I look for something thicker? In this situation I figure the liner should be folded over the edges completely. Is there a specific type of tile I should be installing to handle the constant submersion?
