I'm gonna go with the Unsanded grout from Laticrete

Caulk

Can someone advise me about what to use to caulk the drop- in sink to the countertop and also to caulk the first row of backsplash tiles to the countertop?

Laticrete makes a Latex Acrylic caulking in matching color to grout.
Or---I can get a clear silicone caulk from my hardware store.

What do I need to know before choosing?
Is the Acrylic as protective?
Is it customary to use an acrylic caulk that matches the grout color, in my case a light gray grout. Rather than going clear. Not sure what is meant by Translucent caulking. If anyone knows.......Thanks.

I'd want to use a silicone caulk for the sink, Mary, it'll last longer, but the acrylic for the back splash will be fine, and is much easier to apply than the silicone.

Laticrete makes both types in color matches.

If you do use silicone be sure to use something like blue painters tape which will help ensure clean, straight joints without getting silicone everywhere. Check this line for some very helpful tips: https://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin...ad.php?t=85634

For caulking the bottom row of the backsplash where it meets the laminate top...

Between the laminate’s rate of expansion & contraction, coupled with the fact that many tops are more secured in the front rather than the back...there is a lot of movement at this back joint. Latex caulk is much more likely to crack than 100% silicone. For me, I’d use 100% silicone every time in this situation.
