This might be a stupid question but why do we use the membrane for waterproofing corners and screws? It seems to me you could just cover screw holes and corners with kerdi fix and save yourself 5 times the cost.

Perhaps you're not getting a response because nobody understands the question better than do I, which is not at all, I'm afraid. Perhaps a photo of what you're dealing with would help.

You can seal the fastener penetrations and panel joints any way that makes you comfortable. Folks use patches of KerdiBand because that's the best way to do so. You use what you prefer.

The tile we had installed on the shower base is not looking good and we're thinking of installing another on top. Is there a way to remove the grate and reinstall or does it have to be ripped out and reset?

We had a contractor install some Kerdi board but it seems on one wall, it's not perfectly vertical. I think the studs were the old ones and must be a bit bowed (100 years old). The problem is the base and tile is already in on the floor and now we need to make the wall vertical because the tiler can't tile it as is.
The difference between the bottom and top is 3/8".
The tiler doesn't want to use thick adhesive so I'm wondering what the solution is. Does the wall need to be floated?

Before you try something else, is the waterproofing completely finished? Can you post a picture of it?

I ask because if you read your posts in order, it seems as if the floor tile was installed before the wall board was put up. Hopefully that's not the case.

If you just have wall board up above the tiled tray, you could cut the board a few inches up from the floor, straighten the studs, then replace the board and patch the seam.

It's all waterproofed already and all the board in place.
They tiled the floor and grouted and thinset the drain.
The problem I have is that the one wall leans inward.
So, I need to add 3/8" at the bottom and then less as I go up.
Because the base tile is already there it's a bit difficult to adjust at the bottom sections.
I could cut the board at the top and try and chisel out a little of the stud to set the top back 3/8"?

Gordon, do we understand that you're paying someone to build this shower?

If so, that someone should have corrected the framing before he installed the wallboard. A bit silly of him now to tell you he can't tile the wall because he didn't plumb it when he had the opportunity.

Or do I misunderstand the situation?

The tiler did the base tile long after the structure/wall contractor did walls

Yes, but not the waterproofing. I did that.
Regardless though, the wall is not straight so I'm wondering how to adjust given that I can't adjust the boron since the base is tiled.
Seems like my only 2 options are mud or cut back the studs at the top.

My point is, if the tile contractor agreed to tile the shower when the walls were already in place he accepted the condition of the walls at the time and it's up to him to work with what you've got or figure out how to correct the situation.

What size tiles are you putting on the walls?
