Plastic tile trim / Q-trim / Anybody use it ?

I purchased this platic tile trim instead of the more expensive bullnose tile. My plan is to tile the concrete slab front porch and also the face of the concrete slab.
My question is this : How far do I overhang this trim to accomadate for the mortar and the tile to be used on the slab face? What is the standard thickness for the mortar that you are setting ?

Also, since I am using this platic bullnose trim do I have to snap any grid lines since I am going to have to lay the entire front row first and work my way backwards. Won't the plastic trim give me my referrnce point if I lay it on the edge of the slab ?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've never seen this type of trim installed outdoors. I think it may look a little cheap. And I would not use plastic trim at all. The stuff is embedded. What if it breaks?

And Erich, It's up to you, but making a new thread each time makes it hard for the guys to refer back to what you are talking about. It's really better if you keep the same thread going. It will automatically go to the top of the list each time you post to it.

Yeah..plastic trim won't last a week..as soon as you step on the edge and drag your foot a little, it will be pulled away fron the edge and eventually break off. If you're going to use edging..use the metal tile trim edge.

Sorry about the thread deal, didn't know any better.
What should I do? Can I get away without using bullnose tile or trim, if so I would like to know.
