Thanks yes the granite was the most expensive remnant in the boneyard but everyone seems to dig it. This is why I push the combo of tile and granite together to give it that flare.
That is actually a handheld, there will be a sliding bar. This way when you are sitting on the bench you can reach over and get it. I didn't do the plumbing not sure why it was put down so low, I know it was a shower originally on the other side of that wall and lathe they had to get through so that maybe have had something to do with the way they did the plumbing. There were 2 large copper pipes coming up through there as well so we did our best to knock out
an area for a niche. They were very happy with the transformation, it was quite a change for them and us. We like a good challenge, makes us more challenged

Greetings tile pros! I am always amazed at projects I see documented here!
Here is my latest: It's a humble quarry tile install, but this mix does not exist in the wild. It took 5 shades, cut down to 4x4 and random mixed. Rough cuts, off line and slight lippage, ...all were purpose induced as design elements.
Happy New Year my brothers!!

I just finished up a shower install before the holidays for a client. She has hard water at her house, needs a water softener, and elected to stay with shower curtain.
But she wanted a bench in the space.
So I built a bench with a channel on the side for the shower curtain to go back in.
How do others handle something like this? I'm looking for more ideas for next time?

Talk about angles!!! Makes me think of a hip roof, on its head. Nice job.
Not a whole lot of options there. Maybe a corner bench?

Nelson, Cool bench. I like the idea...may have to steal that one.
Here's one we're getting ready to shine up and finish.

Gonna agree with JB, Chop why is there two wooden thresholds there in that entryway unless I am missing something too. Was that piece just used to guage the angles coming across
Nelson, cool bench that has to be a first to see that shape but not seeing a channel for the shower curtain. No idea what you mean, the shower curtain would sit inside the curb so enlighten me, nice work
Greg, very nice shower. Dual benches, nice framed in piece, balanced perfectly, sliced pebbles.........
My latest though it has been ongoing since 2012 I believe. Did a little here a little there as I had some off time, etc. Was for a friend and I did it as a gift to her. She went through a rough divorce, 5 kids, dedicated mother.... she ended up getting a nice little home next to my aunt. This is just a basement bathroom but I wanted to do it up nice for her.
She picked out all the tile, Sidecars from Crossville, Glassblox from Crossville, Disco Inferno from Oceanside. I took out the electric baseboard heat and put in NuHeat cables in the entire floor with Wedi as my thermal barrier. Heating cables go into the shower and under the granite bench. This serves as the heating source for the bathroom. She found the cute little sink vs a vanity because of the limited space. I was waiting for the glass to come in as we decided to use the Disco Inferno as a splash area going behind the sink. I bullnosed all the porcelain, and made base as well. Noble 48" Linear drain.
Originally I was doing the sheetrock in the room years ago and I told her, "let me take out this yeller fiberglass and give you a new bathroom." Yesterday my words came to fruition as I finally put the finishing touches on. Mirror is going on sink wall up to window. They still need to paint, put mirror up with light, custom cabs and then it will be finished. My part is done, only took me 4 years. I will say this one is more gratifying because she never expected this and was patient never asking me when I would be finished.
The progression pics.......

Greg, very nice design. You gonna test the glass man on that one!
Jon, yes that was an improvement. I'm glad you can do this for a friend, I'm sure she will appreciate that for many years to come.
On the bench - I do not like corner triangle benches, to me they need to be so long across the face to keep from wedging your rear back in the corner.
I also do not like the 'square box' bench, where the face of the bench goes straight down. I find that comfortably sitting there your heels will bang against the wall. On most of my benches I will recess that wall under the bench several inches just to give that some relief. More work, I know, but sure improves the looks.
Like this
So a bench, on the back wall, with a glass door, would reach all the way out to the curb. How does that work with a curtain?
So I made the bench several inches short of the curb for the curtain to slip back between the bench and the curb. Now so it's not just a slot back there, I clipped the corner and sloped the underside.
