Epoxy on Copper Pipe

I didn't wanna git on the wrong side of ol' Todd by gettin' off topic over yonder on the fishin' thread, so....


Eric, tell me more about this epoxy for copper pipes.


Not long ago, Sonnie was trying to fix a pinhole leak in a copper pipe in some shower plumbing without having to do a bunch of demo. This epoxy would have been good for that situation?

Maybe somebody remembers what that thread was titled?

Yea it would work for that however, you would need to wrap all the way around it like a cast. We sell most of it to the Fire Sprinkler Industry ,for joining pipe.(under 2") Has higher melting point then soilder. Tested by UL . We have not been able to get it listed with the plbg. code groups so its use is limited to jobs where the inspector isn't going to show up. If you want a sample sent me a address. It has been around for 20 years devp. by the Copper Institute of America. Noble modified it to make it stronger with a faster cure, while still passing a water hammer test ECT ,ECT,. check it out on line under the adhesive catigory.

We're talkin about the PIPE DR product correct? Never seen it in this area, but could of used it more than once. Are there retailers for it in my area? Central Mo, Columbia or Kirksville are the largest towns. Will it work on cast drain pipes as well?

The Pipe Dr. is a glorified Copper Bond with a piece of fiber glass cloth that is used to wrap around the pipe and form a cast. I f you buy your own cloth you have the same thing, with out a niffty stirer(pop cycle stick)and a pair pf latex gloves by just using Copper Bond.I have never used it on cast but like most epoxy it sticks to almost any thing. Had freind patch a aluminum boat.

Is this like that putty in a tube where you break of one side and break off a piece from the otherside and fondle it a bit to mix?

If so that product never saved any of my leaks....ah..not that I really ever had any that is...

No it is not puddy. It come in a siringe with two sides much like allot of Epoxy you can find in a hard ware store. If you haven't sent me a address do so you cann'nt beat the price of your first one.Otherwise try Home depot, lowes,ace, true value in the Plbg. section if they hung it in the right spot. you know how the big box guys work???

Last month I had an impossible shower valve that would not hold solder to save my life. No matter what I did it wouldn't hold and it was even a brand new. I went and got a sringe from Lowes and it worked like a charm.

IT says check for local code acceptance. or some thing close to that .The problem is there are no standards. We have met with the plg. code bodies but its like tring to tell you Noble instead of Schluter, you get to a point and say why am I wasting my breath> Recenty there has been a lot of Lata crete REPS coming our way. In your area do you know doug Krumlauf, lata for years but he saw the light..

I have never knocked Noble. I actually have a ton of info on your product. It just seems that the TS is to thick for pan and walls compared to the orange stuff. Is there an actual dif b/n TS and CIS? They both have a 30mil CPE composite right? They feel the same and look the same from all my samples. If I could get the stuff same cost or cheaper I'll try anything in the right situation.

Doug was the sales rep but has been with Noble over a year now. PJ I know, spend some time with them in the Bahamas drinking MOJITOS(MOE-HE-TOES) Not sure what orange stuff you mean. We make it for Dal Tile(dal seal). The differance between CIS and TS is the size for the most part. CIS is 2'-3' 4' 6'. If you have any ques feel free to give me a call numbers is on lit.

Mojito Recipe:

Juice of 1 lime

3 mint leaves, torn

1 ounce simple syrup (see below)

2 ounces citrus-flavored rum

Splash soda

Splash 7-Up

Splash dark rum

Mint sprig for garnish

Crushed sugar cane stalk for garnish

Put lime juice, mint leaves and simple syrup in empty glass and crush them together. Add rum, splash of soda and splash of 7-Up. Fill with ice and shake. Strain into rocks glass. Top off with floater of dark rum. Garnish with mint sprig and sugar cane stalk.

Makes 1 drink.

Simple Syrup Recipe:

1 part water

1 part sugar

Boil until thickened.

That is a differant then the way I have done it but I ll be forced to try it. Have you had one? I had it my first time in Miami back when the Covering show was still down there.Then this past nov. in the Bahamas with the ntca /ctda show. By the the end of the show I would say there was about 15 of us drinking them. The bar tender hated us.Said they were a pain to make.

Have you considered that the bartender's complaint may not have had as much to do with mixing the drinks as it did with the patrons?
