Shower head

We recently purchased a tub enclosure and are planning on installing a shower over the existing tub. Once we got the drywall cut open, we discovered that a stud runs right in the way. We have decided to use a flex hose instead of a steel pipe. How should we mount the shower head so it will not wobble when being adjusted for people of different height?

There should be a lock knob, to set the height and position of the shower head. If you are going to run flex hose in the wall, I hope you don't plan on using a threaded fitting on each end. You just may develope a leak down the road and have to tear the wall open to repair it.

You may want to consider calling in a plummer for this one.

Hi and Welcome to the forum.

If you don't want to move the stud, you can use elbows to run your shower riser (vertical pipe) up the side of the stud. At the height you want the shower head to be, cut a notch in the front portion of the stud, about an inch and a half into it. You can use a couple more elbows to get your shower arm to come right out the front of the stud.

The bar for the adjustable shower head is mounted vertically to one side or the other of the shower arm. If you are simply using a hand shower (with a flex hose), it mounts directly to the shower arm.

There is nothing that says the showerhead "gooseneck" pipe (usually chrome) must penetrate the wall at the center of the surround. Offset it and stay away from the stud. PROBLEM: If the stud is in the path of the showerhead riser then it is also in the path of the valve and the tub spout. So now what?
