Good luck! I played around with it at the store and I did not like it.

Did you get an intell processor? I am waiting to find an i7 laptop which can hold at least 8GB but I want to pay around $500 and not more than say $600. Should have bought the one my buddy told me to get when Office Depot had 8GB i7 Toshibas on sale for $549 like 8 months ago. The store manager told me they lost like $200 on every one sold in hopes you would buy other items.

Did you check out the new Chromebook? That thing looks pretty cool.

I just picked up a cheap Lenovo Desktop

It gets good reviews and is way better than my old one. I spent over a $1000 and built my last PC back in 2004. This one for $350 blows it away.

It's quiet as a mouse. My last one had 7 fans and sounded like a jet airplane when things got busy.

What's really cool is the thing boots up in like 15 seconds. As far as Windows 8 goes....well, I'm just gona roll with it. It is way different but I'm already liking some of it's personality.

Jason, just picked up a HP laptop with Windows 8 the other day. Little bit of a learning curve but really liking it. One problem though - the media player. Mine came with PowerDVD installed. First movie I watched on it worked flawlessly but the next one was not so good. Would start gliching every 10 mins. Had to pause the movie as to let the computer catch up??? That's the way it seemed anyway.

So what are you using for a media player? Tried searching for an alternative media player but it seems as though media players for Windows 8 are scarce.
Thanks!

Chad - give VLC media player a try. It is open source and plays just about every video format imaginable. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Jason, why are you displaying the American flag upside down? Hopefully it's a sign of distress.??

Well the MediaPlayer has either worked fine or not worked at all in some cases. When it hasn't worked I've just used my laptop instead.

I think Microsoft is gona release a fix soon for a lot of small issues.

On some tech sites they are just calling 8 the Windows 9 Beta so......

Joe, I downloaded VLC last night from CNET.com. Crashes every time I try to play a DVD. Maybe I'll try to uninstall and install again

Didn't work, still crashes. Joe, I don't get why it seems that my computer needs to catch up. What needs to catch up? CPU? Graphics card? The media player itself? I watched the performance monitor while playing movie and it does show peaks on CPU% and disk usage but nothing consistent. They've each spiked to 100% at different times but other times it's only a minor spike 30-40%.

The main reason flags are hung upside down is to show distress. Some people are hanging the American flag upside down because they are not happy with how the leaders are running the country. This is very controversial because the flag has always been a symbol of America and to show respect we have always had rules for how the flags is flown and handled. Flying the flag down show disrespect to America. You can find out more it at www.usflag.org.

Thank God This is a Free country......for now
