It goes over the tile Matt...like this...
I had the granite cut to a nominal size then trimmed it down to fit inside and have the wings go over the tile.

Thanks Craig - that helps. Your work looks great. All of the work in this thread is inspiring.
Another question...
My niche is going to fall between two horizontal grout lines but I will need to cut the field tile against the two vertical sides (using porcelain tile). I had planned to use bullnose pieces on the inside of the niche to cover all edges of the field tile. Should I treat (e.g., ease, soften, etc) the sharp edge of the cut field tile or will it look OK as-is against the bullnose?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey Matt,
Rub the cut edges with a rubbing stone or tile file. You can't take much off or you expose too much of the clay body.

Here is a inside corner niche we did recently. The field tile is a glazed porcelain. We were able to fabricate a nice looking edge on it. Accent row is marble.

True
Sad I have to do that, it ruins the photo but I like the fact that I did it and am happy to give somebody else ideas but there is guys out there selling jobs off of other people's hard work with photos saying "look here I did this" and getting the job then hacking it up. I think it's great to use photos off here and the internet of all the talent and help with design but be honest with your client and let them know it's a design and install you didn't do...

Paul I'm been wanting to try that. Looking forward to stealing the idea from you and Tom sometime soon.
Is that a gym shower or just a small basic shower in a studio apartment in Texas?
