I have finished tearing out the bathroom to the studs and subfloor. The previous 20 year old ceramics and grout were in good shape. The plywood subfloor is 5/8" including all the staples from the previous mesh job. Will you roll your eyes if I use Ditra on this original base prior to doing a new ceramic floor?

My eyes are rolling.

Schluter specs 5/8 ply as the absolute minimum. It's a bit too minimal for me, but I could lose this one, too.

Hey Waxer... I have a similar problem with an upcoming job
my plan is to GLUE and SCREW a 1/4 " underlayment over the 5/8" subfloor...I screw it off every 4" in grids...makes a real stiff floor.. then use the Ditra..if you don't have a height concern use 3/8" or 1/2" underlayment..AC AND BC
grades are fine also....these letters represent the grade
finish of each side.. A on one side B on the reverse side
X denotes eXterior glues...oh man...here I go again..............sorry guys....
If you have the proper tools and mindset......anything is possible !

I put Ditra over 5/8 t&g all the time..that's what it's for isn't it? Absorbs a little movement? Yes? Don't worry...be happy!
