Ditra over 3/4 plywood

I have a job to install 300 sq ft of 12x12 over 3/4 plywood. There is older 8x8 in adjacent room and I was going to attempt to match the height as close as possible. Has anyone installed tile over ditra that has been installed over plywood? Is this a recommended approach?

Hi Mick,

I'm not a pro, but I'm pretty sure that's exactly how most Ditra installs go. Modified thinset between Ditra and plywood, unmodified between tiles and Ditra and you're good to go.

Right advice by Marcus.

I did my bathroom floor with Ditra over plywood. Versabond modified thinset under the Ditra and Masterblend for setting the tiles.

You still have to make sure your flooring supports tile. Plug your joist information into the Deflecto calculator (link is up above in the horizontal blue menu bar) to check your deflection.

Hi Mick. What these guys said. I have done quite a few that way.
