The new layout works for me. I like the symmetry, image size is not a problem, and the forum threads are centered which mimics a website that is not full screen and has a centered layout (the norm for most modern sites). But, I can only speak in the context of having plenty of screen real estate. My lowest resolution monitor is 1600x1200. I could see where things would be different at lower resolutions and on mobile devices.

If it keeps John Bridge buying the beer for the picnics the advertisers happy and if they feel it adds value to their listing I'm OK with it.
But I'm not one of these slackers that reads the forum on my phone at work in between Facebook posts.
One thing it doesn't do is provide ads for the lower portion of the threads- say posts 7-15. If I click on a thread with 14 replies and have already read the first 5 or 6, I won't see any ads on that thread. I don't know if that's a big deal though.

Maybe I could fix that Jim, with those obnoxious sliding ads that follow you wherever you go.
Just kidding!!!

I come for the content not the format so its fine either way for me. In respect for those who put their time and $$ into the site, its maintance, etc. I'll roll with whatever they need to do.
iPhone/ipad guys zoom easily and my computer keyboard zooms so its not too much of an imposition.
I have no idea of the complexity of it, but my pref would be keep it on the right side only and have the ad linup change/refresh as we switch from page to page. Allowing all advertisers to get their fair amount of rotations.
Didn't notice much else that it affected other than

Only if those 20k post are worthwhile. Remove the post count of food pics and some people's post count would go way down.

Brian was joking, but I just joined a forum that is getting off the ground and for $15 I can view it without ads. A small price to pay, especially since the layout isn't as polished as JBF. I voted because you asked, but either way I'll make it just fine.

I use those ads quite often. I'll click on them if I have a question and want to search their site. Kinda handy in my opinion.
My monitor is 24 inches so the ads on both sides don't effect much. I might would have a different opinion if space were limited and the ads cut everything down smaller.
