Schluter SCHIENE profile

Hi,

Our tile contractor forgot to install Schluter SCHIENE profile for transitioning tile to a hardwood floors. Any suggestions how I can fix it that doesn’t require removing the tiles and installing the profile. Our hardwood floors are being installed shortly and I’m hoping there is a good solution. 1st picture is how our tiles are currently installed, 2nd picture is the look we were trying to achieve.

Thank you.

Your tiles are bonded directly to that OSB subflooring, Poly?

Or is that OSB?

The tiles are over Ditra Heat membrane, which is on top of 3/4” Advantech. We used Ditra so that the height of the tile would match the heigh of the hardwood floors (our hardwood is 3/4”)

Thank you,

Nothing wrong with that, Poly.

I would recommend you just install your wood flooring close to the tile and use a flexible sealant in the joint. Said joint really wants to be 1/4" or so, but you might get by with a little less. How big is the wood floor adjacent to that tile?

My opinion; worth price charged.

The hardwood flooring is 3” wide and 3/4” high, which matches the height of our tile. There is a sample of it in the first photo next to the tile.

Thank you so much for taking your time and answering all of my questions! I really appreciate your help!

How does it look if you turn the profile around and have the anchor leg under the hardwood? Or remove some of the dried thinset under the edge of the tile, trim some of the anchor leg off and slide it in. it will be supported from both sides you really dont need much of it under the tile.

Not the width of the flooring pieces, Poly, I was asking about the size of the hardwood flooring installation that is adjacent to your tiles.

Trying to better gauge the amount of movement to be anticipated.
