Waterproofing Powder Room

We will soon be starting a 5x11" small powder room (guest/visitor bath), right now its a drywall'd blank slate... I am curious as to what waterproofing measures i need to take, my plan is to put a basket weave mesh backed tile on the floor, and possibly subway tiles half way up the walls... of course I am a green horn at all this tile business, so I am trying to absorb all sorts of internet knowledge..! So this bathroom will have a claw foot tub, pedestal sink and toilet... the tub will rarely be used as the kids are out of the nest and we use our master... this is just, again a guest bath and a place to show off an antique (yet working) claw foot tub...

Sorry if this is a silly question... any advice is appreciated!

Thanks again!

Tammy, I see no need for waterproofing your powder room, even if you used the clawfoot tub as a shower. Just install a ring-type shower curtain to contain the water to the tub. The tile floor and subway tiles on the walls will easily handle any of the normal and customary splashes that may occur. If you are worried about "the big spill," you will have to do more than simply applying a waterproofing membrane to the floor. By the time most folks figure out what's involved in really waterproofing a bathroom, they simply check their homeowner's insurance to see if such a leak is covered, and fix that if it is not.
