Mapei ultracolor plus FA warm grey. Porcelain Penny rounds.
I could go into detail with the install method I used. Let’s just say I’m a beginner and I’m sure I didn’t execute as well as a pro would. I tried following instructions best I could, but was not easy. I did as good of a job as I could have hoped as this was my second ever tile job and first floor I’ve done. I followed mixing instructions consistently for all three bags. The application instructions I intended to follow but once things were going, I had a harder time. So there’s a chance the discoloration is from my inexperience and inconsistency in my install. Any relevant questions about just ask... (Basically I grouted the joints, squeegeed over, then waited. Once it didn’t transfer to finger I tooled the joints to my liking with a rung out sponge, tried to keep sponge clean as I went, then swiped once with each side of sponge then rinsed and rung, and repeat. Wait til dry then buffed with white 3m scotchbrite pad.)
At any rate, is there a remedy to this? I grouted Saturday early evening if that’s relevant. The tiles look fine and feel clean, but the grout is splotchy, and inconsistent. I tried a spot clean with denatured alcohol and there was no change. I washed the entire floor in 6:1 water to vinegar and mopped with clean water and no change after that dried.
Side question, when the grout gets wet it gets darker, is that normal and will this always be the case? I didn’t grow up around tiled bathrooms/kitchens, I didn’t ever do tile work, I really just don’t know..
Thanks for the help!
