Perish the thought, Hank! Might initially seem like a good idea, but I encourage you to put that right out of your head...it won't look good.
If thinset could do dual duty, you can bet it would be marketed that way. For your narrow grout lines your likely choices are:
1.Single component grouts like Custom's Fusion or Mapei's Flexcolor CQ.
2.Premium cementitious grouts like Custom's Prism or Laticrete's Permacolor which use smaller aggregate than their standard sanded grout cousins.
3. Unsanded grout, your choice of vendor. If you got VB at HD, they will probably have Custom's Polyblend, which I've used a lot. Be careful not to overwater unsanded grout. If it seems too thick as you're floating it, it's probably about right. Think of it as getting a workout along with grouting.
