If I'm not mistaken, if he has no real tie ins with your domain name, he can be sued for cyber squatting. You shouldn't have a problem getting it back from him if it really comes down to it.

So I am aware that he owns it, he said though that if things didn't work out between us he would give me the domain, how do I really know that.
Jon ,

The same happened to me few years back with my guy . Had to push some buttons to get it done , he was pretty aggressive about '' not giving it up. '' Couldn't understand it why , he doesn't own it . You own the name , it is just a transfer.
He has to provide you with the authorization codes for proper transfer .

Jon,

See if you can get him to turn it over to you before you consider getting another domain. You can check to see that he does it by checking whois as I instructed above.

I doesn't matter whether he wipes it clean. It's a good name for you if you can get it.

Jerry, that's a job I would go stale on. I get antsy when a job lasts more than a few weeks. C'mon. Doing one for six months is like being gainfully employed.

It isn't just a matter of plugging your e-mail address into the page. It's a PHP contact form that sends the completed information to another file (mailer.php) which transforms the information to an e-mail and sends it out to the recipient, in this case it's you. Your actual e-mail address needs to be encoded into the mailer.php file (or an ancillary routine), not the web page. If your web guy can't do that, I'd seriously consider losing him and finding someone else... aside from everything else you're going through with him.

Yes, it didn't make any sense he couldn't link the contact page to my email address. Mainly he seemed like he just didn't want to spend time on it. All I asked him was for someone to be able to access it and make the changes I sent him with the key words and all. Instead I just waited and waited and got sick of waiting. Then when I pressed him all of a sudden I was the bad guy that he had done enuf and was too busy. Whatever, if I treated a customer like he treated me I'd be without work. Don't know if he is going to give me the domain or not, he said he would originally but he said a lot of things he didn't do like optimizing it and updating it. Don't get me wrong he did a nice job, but it needed some stuff done and he is always too busy. Since I am not high on his priority list I am just going to find someone else and start over and make sure the new person knows all these things I learned here. I look forward to giving someone else a shot

Vincent Not sure what your message meant but it sounded good

It is a shame cause I have that website listed so many places now and had it put on shirts. I waited 13 years to get a website made so this is just a bump I'll get over. Like the Six Million Dollar Man, we can rebuild....

Get your domain from him and I'll build you a site Jon.

I can do it - I read 'websites for dummies'. If you can get your domain back, or get another one, I'll help you out.

Was wondering when you'd show up, Roger.

Jon, you're a damn hard head -- a worse one than I am.

Slow down and try to get that domain name from the guy. He might really be busy. Give him another shout. It's your first and best option. Roger is more of a site builder than he's letting on, and you won't be the first one he's helped on this forum.

I don't understand, why wouldn't he want to give Jon his domain name?

Jon, try to get it from him again. Be kind of nice when you ask him. I know he doesn't deserve it, but if one wants something, sometimes one has to do what one has to do.

Good luck,
Ceci

Was that a compliment

Ceci, your right. The thing is I have been nothing but nice, you know Mr. NiceGuy type. That hasn't gotten me anywhere.

Roger I thank you for the offer, gonna see what Mr. WebGuy wants to do here. If we shut this site down and start over I would definitely like to give you the opportunity since you offered.

He might be a control kinda person you know the type, won't make changes but won't let anyone else either. All I asked was for him to add the key words I sent him 2-3 weeks ago and the info my friend sent for him to add f/book stuff and all. Couple other changes, he just didn't want to do it and well......gonna go see his emails now. I would like to just end this saga and start over. I see this kinda thing happening from here on out, because I am such a demanding person. I guess I am a hard headed demanding type a guy....lol

Jon, I didn't mean nicenice. Meant firm, calm, logical, ... . Play up you understanding he is super busy and it must be hard, blahblahblah, and then hit him with it's your business therefore very important otherwise wouldn't be so insistent, ... . Nice, but not nice in a way at the same time.
