im not interested in going there for the rebuild, but hopefully so of my competition will, NZ won t have enough tradesmen to do it any way with thousands of houses and commercial buildings having to be replaced, insurance companies are holding things up

Jim,

Maybe you need to abandon that island and move over to Oz?

No, I guess that wouldn't work, would it?

John thousands of kiwis leave NZ every year to live in Aus now, mostly our young go getters and the trouble is most dont come back, how is this for a slice of paradise, Milford Sound. http://www.fiordland.org.nz/About-Fi...ford-Sound.asp just spent a few days there. they had a 7.0 earthquake a few years ago moving that part of the South Island a foot nearer to Australia.

You mentioned that a lot of people are leaving, does that mean that property values are falling?

What have been the effects of all the earthquakes? Are the water levels rising? receding? Are there any active volcanoes that are about to blow?

I don't expect you to do any research on this, I'm just kind of wondering what's going on down there... maybe NZ will sink into the ocean or something.

straight after the earhquakes property values dropped, banks stopped lending, insurance companies stopped insuring, property values have risen in some areas of ChCh and rents have skyrocketed, there isnt enough accomodation for the workers for the rebuild, People are living in severly damaged homes still waiting for their payout from the insurance companies and CERA. NZ sits on several fault lines we have lots of Volcanoes some active some not, there was a 5.2 earthquake on monday in the Nth Island, These Mountains are caused by the movement in the earths plates pushing into each other, i dont think that will ever stop..this is Queenstown .NZ is full of mountains especially the South Island......
