windows 10 update issues

Hi Guys,

Had to get a new computer and it came with windows 10--I hate it-- even have to use data to play spider --about the only thing I do with the machine other than visit folks like you.

Anyway, had lots of problems at first and had a friend look at it--seems like it was not automatically downloading updates of which there were many. After a couple of hours doing his "tec" stuff, all was well, except now there is another load of updates in the que that say (for days now) that they are downloading, but zero % downloaded.

Anyone know of a simple way for a non geek to manually download in windows 10--use to be that all I had to do was look at the updates available and click on what I wanted--no such option now

TIA

JVC

Thought the same thing, they look for idle time. With win 10, just go about your business and leave pc on. It will do its thing!

that's what I've been doing--the computer is running all the time. Problem is that my connection is not wi-fi, but through a cellular "air card" and windows 10 reads a cell connection as metered connection and won't download through it.

rightnow, I have 4 windows updates in the cue--all say ready for download, and all say downloading 0%..

what I need is to find a way to over ride the meter connection thing and manually download the updates. My friend's teck guy managed to do so, but had to spend quite a bit of time writing code on note book and sending it off--way beyond my capabilities.

I suspect I could take the machine to town one day and find a free wi-fi connection--probable at the staples store where I bought it.

Thanks, JVC

Lots of free WIFI out there. Public Libraries, McDonalds, KFC, Starbucks, etc... do a google search and a map will pop up with locations.
