fast way to set tile base?

Howdy all! We have a job we have to pop back into to to put up tile base (had to wait for drywaller to fix walls before we could do base). It would be ideal to get the tile base up as fast as possible and grout it same day. Is speed set the best option here, or could we do a fast set silicone adhesive to get the base up and grouted within 2 to 3 hours while having to unload the least amount of tools?
The base is a standard ceramic tile, bullnose, about 3 inches tall on drywall in a smallish bathroom

Perfectly flat walls you can get away with an adhesive. Here’s one that can do what you want. Could do the same with most any speed set thinset in just about the same amount of time tho.

Wow, I've never even heard of such an adhesive. Have to admit, I don't trust adhering tile with anything out of a spray bottle haha.

Probably just stick with the speed set!

Nor have I, Sara.

I would be very skeptical of such a product, 'specially when they make statements such as the following. The TCNA does not approve products, be they good, bad, or indifferent.

My opinion; worth price charged.

This stuff works. I was comp’d five cans of it and tried a few for base tile. It definitely sticks but in the same amount of time it takes to protect the tiles from getting overspray, you could put Custom Speed Set and be done in the same amount of time. Additionally thinset will allow variations in the wall to be addressed.

You could stick them on with construction adhesive, too, Kevin, and avoid the over spray problem, Kevin, but I don't think I'd recommend that, either, although I'm quite confident it would work for a while.

Hot melt glue. Works like a charm. Stick them up and grout immediately.
