New FLIR for Iphones and other smart phones

Looks promising to me. Flir technology for smart phones for $349. Sounds like a no brainer to me.

I cant tell you how many people call me to determine if they have a leak and how extensive the damage may be. I think something like this would do wonders for making active water leaks and wet areas show up for a quick close to a consultation.

Up till now the only ones that looked fairly promising were the $6K - $13K versions by same company.

Flir

Kevin thanks!
I have a bigger one, but it too expensive to carry around all the time. This is much more affordable and is being shipped as we speak. I will let you know how it works. John Cox

not for me, I'm not a plumber or want to bother with doing leak investigations.

If they don't want the shower totally ripped out I'm not bothering.

Paul. What interest would that be to you with your broken screen which requires careful typing?

Brian, I'm not a plumber either. But when I can show a prospect that they have water where it's not supposed to be, I close them nearly every visit.

Easier to do with a FLIR instead of either opening a wall, or waiting for a prospect to think about the risk for weeks or months. If it works like I hope it can make prospect visits more productive = $$$

Looking to hear from your review JC

Wow
I was just looking at a FLIR camera for shower inspections. John I will be waiting to hear your review on the FLIR for I Phone. I cant tell you how many showers I have looked at over the last 4 months that are leaking. The FLIR I looked at was around $8K.

Only works on Iphone 5 or 5s? Seems to me they are limiting their market.

Probably also good for drilling in heated floors. I have one coming up where the client wants a door stop on a funny angle so have to drill for one in the heated area.

I'd assume you could see the wire pattern and drill without fear.

And thinking about it, Brian has a good point that falling apart showers are pretty easy to close the deal. However if given the choice, I would rather replace a slightly wet shower with little damage, than a mold monster. If I could fill my year with slightly wet than I can pass on all the stinkers going forward.

Smaller

Kevin,
We have used our big Flir for locating the wires for door stops. We have also used it to detect where wires were damaged when one wasn't used. I am looking forward in having one that is small and portable...and less expensive. There are a lot of uses for this device. I will respond when i take it for a test run. Should have it in a couple of days.

yeah, but to me people would try to just get the leak fixed and your out a full shower. Mold isn't that bad but I prefer the termite damage the best

full rip out for curbless shower and the lady was lucky she went that route.
her deck and all studs were ate up by termites all except for the exterior PT.
