New City, New Job, and general State of the Union update

Been away for a while, and wanted to touch base and give you all an update.

The short version is as follows:

After much discussion between my wife and kids and I,,,we decided it was time for a change. We'd owned our home in California long enough to have an equity sale. So I finished my projects, put the house on the market, closed escrow and moved to Kirkland, WA. Where I took a new job as the Facilities Manager at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge .

I'm loving the new job. New job has a lot in common with my old job; if something needs to be fixed/repaired/replaced/built/remodeled...I figure out if we can do it in-house or if we need to contract it. If in-house...then I get to fixing or building or whatever needs to be done. If contracting it out, i get the quotes and schedule the work, etc. My knees feel great

Anyway, we are absolutely loving life up here. My wife got a great job in Redmond. The kids are thriving; schools here are miles ahead of where they were in California. I drive up along the Snoqualmie River every morning (beautiful trout and steelhead fishing which i'll be taking full advantage of). We have deer in the yard. I've got the riding mower going. The archery target is up. There is no Home Owners Association

Whew, thats not as short a version as i had aimed for. But now you know I'm still alive and kicking up in the Seattle area. Will still be popping into the forum and throwing out my two coppers from time to time

Hey there, Brannigan!
Welcome to the Pacific Northwest. Since moving up here in 2006, my wife and I have been pleased-as-punch also. If we can manage to throw together another bar-b-que this Summer for the John Bridge gang, I hope that you and your family can join us?
Cheers!,
Shaughnn
PS: Word of warning to you. There's precious few edible Mexican food restaurants up here. I can point you at a couple if you're Jonzing, but I don't have any in the Kirkland area yet. Downtown Kirkland's got a really good waffle place though!

Thanks for that update Brannigan, and I'm glad your move is working out.

The Ridge looks like a nice place.

Don't be a forum stranger:--)

Good for you man, I always like to hear about fellow brothers of the trowel getting out of the trade ahead of the game.

There is a pretty good Mexican place up 15th Ave. N.W. in Ballard. Been there a couple times. Can't think of the name, but real Mexicans run it.

Kirkland's a great place, Brannigan. Far enough out of the city but still handy to it. Say hi to Bill Gates for me, will ya?

Sounds like John's suggesting Restaurant Michoacan. It's good, but Ballard's a wily trek. If you make it over that way, I like La Carta de Oaxaca too.

Well, it's still the Left Coast, I suppose, Brannigan, but 'least it's not California, eh?

Good luck at the new location.
