laying travertine outside with underlayment

hi all,

i am about to lay 2000sf of african travertine outside around a pool the tile is 16 x 16 3/8 thick with 75lf of coping. any suggestions on a approprite underlayment and mortor base. also how thick should the base be?

I would say a 4" bed of concrete over a properly prepared sub base, cured for 28 days before setting the stone with thinset or use Ditra over the concrete a couple of days after it sets some, then tile it.
