Mac,

Hi there,

Well the first thing to do is is make sure the light grout is not from washing the pigment out of the grout.

Second, What type of material is it that is grouted?

If it is ceramic porcelain, or granite use a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar coupled with a a stiff bristle brush for agitating the solution. Then shop vac the material clean and wash with water.

Some times if you have to repeat the process several times, you need to neutralize the grout. For this you would mix household ammonia and water 1/3 ammonia 2/3 water and wash the area.

If the grout has cured completely, I would use an impregnating sealer like the ones sold in our online store.

Hi Mac. First try a mild acetic acid solution to clean the grout. Suggesting white vinegar and water, 50:50 mix to begin with, full strength if necessary, scrubbing with a small brush.

As far as sealer's are concerned, we typically recommend Aqua Mix or StoneTech Pro sealers. StoneTech Pro products incidently are available through the TYW OnLine store, see link at top of screen. Are you just sealing the grout or the tile as well? If your tile also needs sealing, we need to know what type you have to provide the best recommendation.

thanks for the input guys.

background is rialto tile from Lowes, with maipei grout, mounted on thinset over kerdi over durock,

I scrubed a small area with a towel and full strenght vinegar with not much visible notice, I didn't however use a scrub brush as suggested.

so i guess i need to try and use a scrub brush with the vinegar.

Now that you have the background, would you recommend which sealer to use?

oh yeah if the scrub brush and vinegar doesnt work, what next to try?
