Overpricing

$6000 I asked for roughing in for standalone shower/tub. I thought he was installing inwall toilet and switching vanity lines to other side. All they did was play for 2 days with putting together kit, which I told them I would do. 3rd day put in flexible hose that came with kit into. Preexisting drain and moved hot and cold fixture 4 ft same wall. Sorry still fuming

Welcome to the forum, Cher.

We’re a bit short on details to comment. So let me start by asking: Was this a ‘by the hour’ or a contracted price agreement?

It's hard to figure out the scope of work from your post but $6000 for 4 days is not unreasonable.

Reasonable?

It took 3 days, they said 2 maybe 3. The job as I explained and showed them the parts and room was put in hot/ cold lines on back wall, wall hung toilet drain and water, move vanity lines 6ft to other side. I would assemble and since some parts were not here would hook in. The tub/ shower comes with flexible drain already attached and hot/cold are hooked up with hoses much like a washer. They arrived and proceeded to assemble shower which I said I would do, they had never installed 1, i figured maybe they wanted to see it. Asked them to stop just needed lines we discussed.
I had to leave the 1st and 2nd day. Found an assembled shower in a bathroom where the floor needed to be ripped out and new 1 put in no plumbing yet done. Then 3rd day was told other lines not in contract which I still haven't seen.

Cher - I only joined this forum a few days ago - and I’m not a professional in this field.

I don’t know how to include a direct quote from your last post (I’ll have to figure that out!) - the last sentence said something about the contractors claiming that a specific part of the work (I think it was moving some plumbing lines) was not in the contract. You then added something about not having seen it yet. . .

Are you saying that you haven’t yet seen the contract????

That’s what it sounded like - but that doesn’t make sense to me so I thought I’d ask. After all, it’s a Monday!

Dani, if you'll visit our FAQ or the Liberry you'll find a brief tutorial showing how to post and properly attribute quotes here on the forums. Very simple once you see it.

Correct

I haven't seen the contract or an invoice. I assumed my husband got it or made arrangements. I was also watching an infant and she picked then to wake up.

At present I have a lot of work to do

Stupid of me I know, but I will pursue that thru the AG and BBB.
I have to finish ripping up 3 layers of flooring. I love the subfloor, it's making me want to look under the bedroom carpet. I just wondered if I should put down a waterproof membrane along with the plywood then hardiebacker. I wish I would have gotten schluter but the board is already here. Oh the reason, there is a Mesa Steamshower that they didn't vent the fan out of the room. So trying to be safe. It's a small room 6ft 3 in x 10 ft, I also since found out they should have gone over the hot water supply.

Overpricing is relative to what your husband agreed to. What did he say?

He is in nothing but trouble for distracting the guy. Too bad he's an adult. I'd ground him for life. He wasn't in the contract, his name wasn't in there anywhere. Already taking to BBB.
