can walls be mudded and tiled in the same day since you say its faster?

would you recommend any specific literature or courses on the techniques of mudding?

Hi McCabe, Welcome.

I hope you haven't missed the mud thread. I'd hate to get another long one going here.

The whole idea of mud beds was originally to set everything wet so that the tiles could be beaten into the mud. Nowadays about the only thing I still set wet are showers and tub surrounds.

Yes, I can float and tile a tub surround in one day. And grout it, too.

As far as tub surrounds and floors go, I would recommend my own book, which delves into it quite deeply, I think.

Ceramic Tile Setting, John P. Bridge, McGraw-Hill, 1992
