Netflix Suggestions
There’s about a zillion movies available for online streaming. But I think I spend more time surfing through the mediocre previews than actually watching something. So, what do you say to a thread for suggesting movies or series you like? It could be from Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney…
I’ll suggest a format of giving the title, format, streaming service, and a synopsis. Just be careful to not let a spoiler slip, eh?
I’ll start with something I just finished:
- Title: The Vault
- Format: Movie
- Streaming Service: Netflix
- Synopsis: A ‘Salvager’ finds a treasure, is promptly seized by the Spanish Crown, locked away in a super-secure underground vault, and the finder tries to get it back.
Not a bad way to enjoy an hour and 58 minutes.
Whaddya got?

I've been watching series "The Handmaid's Tale" on Hulu the past few years. It's held up pretty well. In a world where fertility rates have collapsed as a result of sexually transmitted diseases and environmental pollution, the totalitarian, theonomic government of Gilead establishes rule in the former United States in the aftermath of a civil war.
"The Old Man" series with Jeff Bridges is another good one on Hulu. Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) is a former CIA operative who has been living off-the-grid in Vermont for thirty years. After killing an intruder who breaks into his home, Chase is forced into hiding. While in hiding, Chase rents a room from Zoe McDonald (Amy Brenneman), with whom he is forced to partner while on the run.

I thoroughly enjoyed MindHunter on Netflix. Normally, I wouldn't be into shows about serial killers but it's a David Fincher project and was really interesting.
Fincher did Fight Club, Gone Girl, Social Network, etc.
Also, The Witcher is good stuff.

Reason: MindHunter is a series, not a movie

An unusual pick...but VERY good. "Where The Crawdads Sing." Well done, well crafted and with a great "Twist" ending. I recommend highly....

I don't have my Netflix subscription anymore but there's a new series on there that I'm super interested in.
It's from Randall Carlson and Graham Hancock and it goes into human prehistory.
These guys have been on the Joe Rogan podcast several times talking about geology, archaeology, and human history.
Here's the teaser for it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgvaXros3MY

I don't have NF but a neighbor does and we watched the Epstein 3 part. Very good.
I do have HBO Max and watched the Band of Brothers. I wish the series was longer. Pretty intense.
